Ingredients:
Lye - 260 grams
Water - 720 grams
Olive Oil - 1,920 grams
1) Create Lye Solution - Pour the Lye into your Water. Do not pour the water into the lye, this will prevent splashing. The lye solution will quickly become very hot and turn milky. Stir gently until the lye is dissolved and the solution becomes clear.
2) Create Soap - Slowly pour the Lye Solution into the Olive Oil. Mix thouroughly until it becomes a uniform color. Every five minutes, mix thouroughly: roughly 20-30 seconds with a stick blender or until you see uniform color (the Olive Oil will tend to seperate at first). Repeat the 5 minute step until your mixture looks like pudding (close enough is good enough).
3) Pour Into Mold - Pour into a mold. If you do not have a mold, you could use a plastic tupperware container with a plastic bag inside, like a garbage bag. Wait 2-4 days to unmold soap, depending on humidity.
4) Cut Soap - Remember, the Lye Solution is active for 3 days. Continue wearing gloves for this step. Cut soap into 1 inch thick bars. Let cure, out of direct sunlight, for 1-4 weeks. The longer the soap cures, the longer it will last. Soap is safe to use after curing for 1 week, but I recommend the full 4 week curing time.
